What do you think about my idea for a shower gift?
I am not a mom but an Aunt with 10 nieces (and 2 nephews). One of my nieces is having a baby shower thrown for her soon.
We have so many relatives that she is sure to get just about anything she needs. I want to give her something new and different.
I have heard about a company called SharetheNews.com so I looked it up. I would like some feedback.
Here is my idea for the gift and I would like to know if this would be something a pregnant mom would appreciate. It is a way to contact a whole list of people with just one call. She could send a message announcing the birth with all the usual information, sex, weight, etc. to any friends and family she wants by setting up a list ahead of time, either by phone or computer. Then when the baby arrives she can record her announcement and launch the call right away. She could even do this from her hospital bed. She could even opt to receive replies and (who knows?) maybe receive more gifts from people who did not attend the shower.
As you can see I have given it a lot of thought and I almost have myself talked into it. I would buy a block of time for however much I want to spend. The cheapest would be $25 for 100 minutes. She could make a 30 second message and send it to 200 people. If she doesn't need to send to that many she could make her message longer or opt to receive any minutes left for replies.
Please tell me what you think.

I think that's a good idea...though if it were me, I always liked to make the calls myself and hear people's reactions. Then again, I sure didn't have 200 people to call and if she has THAT many, she might appreciate it.
OR, you could order her a custom canvas to hang in the baby's room! It could have the baby's name and everything on it. :)
