Who offers Part-Time Child Care?

Hi ~
I've just found this site today and am so excited!
I'm due in January, and am going to need Part-Time Child Care, 2 days/week, starting around April.
I'm in East Raleigh (Hedingham), so something nearby would be best.
Any and All suggestions would be very appreciated.
Thanks so much,
Patti

I too would be interested in learning more about drop in or part time childcare in Raleigh. I lived in Greenville, NC last year and used a place called Playdate every so often for a couple of hours. It cost $6 per hour, but you could buy a bundle of hours up front and the cost would go down. I know there's a place on Durant Road that is drop in and Screaming Mimi's at Triangle Town Center, but are there others? Those places are a bit far from my home in North Raleigh and more pricey than I'm used to. For a city this size, I am surprised there aren't more places available.

I've had great luck with having a stay-at-home-mom watch my daughter part-time. Most centers don't accept part-timers because it takes up a space that they could be filling with a full-time child. At-home daycares can sometimes be more accommodating if they have an opening and no prospective full-time child to fill it. Also, you can post the job on Meredith College or NC State's job posting boards. I found my providers through Craigslist. It's a scary endeavor, but it worked for me. I received lots of responses and narrowed them down, then met with people, checked references, etc. I've had two wonderful women care for my child this way and it's worked out great. I only work part-time, so this is the most affordable and logical option for me.

jenncsu,

The place you are talking about on Durant also lets you buy a bundle of hours up front, and the cost goes as low as $5/hour.  Plus the staff is so nice, and have undergone background checks, CPR and First Aid, and extensive training.

My kids love it!

I am a stay at home mom with lots of child care experience. I worked as a nanny after college before returning (I worked part time in college) to work at PLAYSPACE Children's Museum where I became Education director, facility director and then Executive Director. I even taught the Early childhood credential class at Wake Teach. I am now a stay at home mom of a wonderful 20 month old daughter looking to make some extra money through part time child care. If you need part time help please contact me and hopefully we could work something out. THANKS Amy amyfainjohnson@hotmail.com

I'm a SAHM too in the NE Raleigh area (near knightdale, 540, triangle town center, etc.) I have openings for FT and PT children since I currently only watch a 2 kids PT from 0-3 days a week. I have a 12 month old who LOVES company and live in a safe, single family home and have plenty of toys for kids to play with. I do third shift, drop in and occassional weekend care as well. If you'd like to know you can contact me. lb_03@hotmail.com (Just make sure you put childcare in the subject my spam mail picks up alot of legit emails). thanks!

If you are new to the Wake Forest Area I worked at a daycare called Kids Educational Center. There are link at kidseducationalcenter.com They have about 6 branches stretching from Wake Forest, Knightdale, etc. and the drop-in rate about 1 year ago was $55.00 per day. It is extremely hard to find a day care that will take a drop in. Kids Ed also does Part time and can be flexible depending on the days you want. Also, this was about 1 year ago so prices/flexibility may be subject to changing as with any daycare. Hope it helps! If anyone would like to chat more you can email me at volleygirl8314@aol.com. If you are still searching for a sitter, try www.sitterconnection.net All of the sitters are at least 18 years old, responsible, reliable, reference-checked, and background checked!
