Yell, Baby, Yell!

Sometimes I feel all I do is yell! I wake up yelling, and go to sleep yelling. Sometimes it makes me feel like a terrible mother. But then I realize, if my daughter is initially told not to do something, and she continues to do it over, and over, and over again, wouldn't it make me a terrible mother to not yell. I have to teach her to do the right things, and if I let her get away with everything, she will never learn. I know one day I will only have to say something once and she will listen, but until that day comes, and it probobly won't be for a very long time, my voice will be getting a really good workout.

Kids often do things they have been told not to do to get attention from their parent. Positive or negative attention - we are still paying attention to them. Perhaps yelling isn't the best way to change the behavior.
Yelling doesn't make us terrible mothers, just tired ones.
