Middle and high school students may attend the 2008 candidates' forum from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., featuring individuals running for statewide offices. The program at the N.C. It's a bird ... It's a plane ... It's the Chick-fil-A Super Heroes! Fans of the popular chicken restaurant are invited to create their favorite superhero costume and test their super powers during Chick-fil-A's Super Hero themed Night at the Apex Beaver Creek Commons location from 5 to 7 p.m.
Children will have a chance to show off their super powers in several challenges located throughout the restaurant. At each station, the super hero will receive a stamp of achievement and culminate with a training certificate when all the stations have been completed.

Historic Oak View County Park hosts its annual Storytelling Festival, sponsored by Wake County Public Libraries. The event features storytellers from around the country. They'll perform at sites spread throughout the park.

Join breastfeeding mothers and babies at the N.C. Women's Hospital to celebrate breastfeeding as part of the Quintessence Challenge, an effort to get the most babies "latched on" at one time. The event includes opportunities to make your baby's hand or foot print as a souvenir, meet other breastfeeding families and share some goodies. Dads, grandparents and siblings are welcome.

The Triangle chapter of Attachment Parenting International, API, a non-profit global network of parenting support groups with more than 60 chapters in North America, will hold Triangle API Fall Festival as part of October’s Attachment Parenting Month, which will be celebrated by chapters around the country according to this year’s theme, “Giving Our Children Presence.”
A "festicause" to support The Mariposa School in Cary, a non-profit that offers children with autism and other developmental disabilities year-round, one-on-one instruction. The event will feature food and music, including the Sandbox Band from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Go here for all the details.

Thanks to a grant from Durham Regional Hospital, Kidzu Children's Museum is free on Sundays through September 2009. Also on Sundays, with a grant from the Orange County Partnership for Children, the museum will offer free parenting information and dental health screenings.
