Rides, demonstrations, food, music. The N.C. State Fair pretty much has it all. It runs from Oct. 15 to Oct. 25.

 

It's open 8 a.m. to midnight (must have an advance ticket to get in the gate between 10 p.m. and midnight). Rides run from 10 a.m. to midnight.

Bring four cans of food to the fair on Oct. 22 to receive free admission during Food Lion Hunger Relief Day.

The Brain Injury Association of North Carolina is hosting a fundraising and awareness event featuring best-selling author Lee Woodruff at the NC State Alumni Club.  The event will also feature Dr James Kelly, director of the National Intrepid Center of Excellence, Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury. Proceeds will support the services and programs for the 40,000 North Carolinians who are disabled by brain injury each year.
