The Amazing BRAIN Day

The Amazing Brain Day” 

 

Sunday, March 22nd from 1:30pm-5:00pm

 

This event is in celebration of Brain Awareness Week and is a day of free brain-related presentations at the North Regional Library (off Newton Rd in North Raleigh). 

 

There will also be free literature available on the brain, door prizes and refreshments. 

 

Here is a list of the local professionals who will be participating and what they will be presenting:  

1:30pm - Nutrition Essentials for Healthy Brain Development

Dr. Barbara Ann Hughes

Dr. Hughes, founder of B.A. Hughes & Associates, is a registered dietician, providing nutrition assessment and treatment for families in the Triangle.  Dr. Hughes will discuss smart food choices for enhanced learning and performing.   

2:15pm - Use & Abuse of the Brain

Dr. Patricia Pearce

Dr. Pearce is a psychiatrist in private practice in Raleigh.  Dr. Pearce will address the resiliency of the brain by discussing what we can do to promote good brain health as well as specific substances that have negative long-term effects on the brain.    

3:00pm - Say Farewell to the “Senior Moment”

Shannon Graham

Ms. Graham is the Director of Marketing & Social Services at The Cypress of Raleigh, a continuing-care retirement community.  She will speak about age-related cognitive decline and how seniors can stay sharp. 

3:45pm - Train the Brain & Get Smarter

Sheryl Underhill & Justine O’Neil

Mrs. Underhill and Ms. O'Neil are the Director & Assistant Director, respectively, of LearningRx Brain Training of Raleigh.  The pair will present the important role of cognitive skills in learning.  Find out what you can do to power-up your child’s (and your) brain!
