Joel Lane Museum House Fourth of July Celebration - Raleigh

The Joel Lane Museum House will sponsor its annual Independence Day open house. Lane was a founding father of North Carolina's capital city and an officer in the militia during the American Revolutionary War.
One the grounds, re-enactors will demonstrate various aspects of colonial life such as spinning and soldiering. Todd Wahler will be in uniform and bring his musket, and Janet Napier will bring her spinning wheel. Docents will provide hands-on activities such as playing with old-fashioned wooden toys, writing with a quill pen and making rag dolls. Jim Jones will give a lecture on colonial currency. String Theory, a string quartet, and Triangle Mountain Dulcimers will provide music. Ginger cookies and cold lemonade will be provided.
