Insurance codes are now available for women using postpartum doula support. Not all insurance companies will cover the cost of a postpartum doula but at least now women can file with their insurance companies for reimbursement. It's a wonder it took so long considering how much having certified postpartum support saves insurance companies. Women who use a ppd have a higher chance of breastfeeding success and continue breastfeeding longer, and they have lower incidence of postpartum depression.

Moms in Raleigh and Cary, how much have you heard about this?
Article -- This is YOUR Drinking Water
Its pretty scary what Durham is doing to the water you and your kids have to drink. There are a few of us in Durham who are trying to fight this but we can't stop them, unless Moms in Raleigh and Cary start putting their foot down, and standing up for themselves and the health of their kids. What do you think about this? Is this the first you've heard about it? Have any of you talked to your town council representative, county commissioner, or mayor? What did they say to you? Have you seen any coverage at all in the media?
I'd like to hear from everyone on this!

Hello,
I am expecting our first child in late January 2010. We are seeking flexible child care for our child. I work various part-time hours during the week and would only need child care during those times. I would know month to month what those hours would be. Would anyone have any suggestions as to child care options?
Thanks

Hi, I'm both a new mom and new to the area... My son is 3 months old, and I moved here about a month ago. I am looking for a good pediatrician. I live in the Cary area, so I am hoping to get one that is close by, if anyone has any advice that would be great.
Thanks

Our 7 month old has terrible acid reflux. We're looking for a pediatrician with some expertise in this area. Please recommend your doc if you've had a good experience!

If you're buying diapers, coupons.com has some great coupons on Huggies - $5 off on any one gentle care diapers product and $3 off on Natural Diapers Fit product.
You can print them off the site (Safari works best) and Sue Stock of the Taking Stock blog tells me you can use them at most stores. The site will only let you print as many as two off.
I've seen $2 coupons for diapers, but never $5 ...

I breastfed my daughter and sometimes that had to happen in public. Thankfully, I never had the reaction that this woman had at a Denny's in Asheville or heard the kinds of comments made by the first few people who have commented on this story. (The mom's name is Crystal and one poster says that only strippers are named Crystal.) I'm glad to hear that Denny's has apologized. I hope they do create a policy for breastfeeding in their restaurants.
I agree that there are modest ways to breastfeed when in public ... like for instance, I wouldn't just let the girls hang out exposed for an extended period of time. But I really don't understand what the big deal is. Breasts were made to feed babies. And experts around the world agree breastfeeding is best for babies. Babies need to eat, sometimes every couple of hours for the littlest ones ... and I really don't think they should be relegated to the car or (gross) bathroom to do that.
Thoughts?
