Many of the children of this village were AIDs orphans.  Very few adults except the very old or very young ones were left here.  There were very little resources for the dozens of AIDs orphans who were the majority of the population in this small village which had sixty children in a town consisting of maybe half a dozen to ten grass huts.  Hard to fathom.  THe tourist lodge in the area funded the school for this village and other community projects for the benefit of the children.   Security and health means life for these kids,  lack of shoes or real bed not so important.  Shoes and beds are easy to give, though the children don't have them.  Security and health, a bit harder to provide.  Maybe impossible.   The issues with your own children may seem a bit less crucial.  Whatever the issues may be,  your children will likely survive.
