A Daughter after my own heart

I knew from the moment she was born, she was destined for great things. It broke my heart learning her father did not feel the same way. He would much rather be else where than be a father to his own daughter and a husband to a wife, who not only did whatever he asked but supported his dreams as well. After leaving him and taking primary custody of our daughter, she has begun to improve her attitude. She began to appreciate herself and her companies of friends at school. I couldn't have asked for more as a mother. She has taken upon herself to be responsible - not because it made me happy, but because she found pride in herself that she is able to accomplish the task given to her. She now understands the difference between discipline and abuse. I am grateful everyday for the little things; simple pleasures, if you may call it; she finds to entertain herself and learn from her mistakes. I can tell she will grow up to be a strong and intelligent woman; just like her mother.
