This " Grandma Thing" is getting better and better. I only wish my own dear parents were alive to see me in the role that my children adored with them. We were fortunate to live near them and my own daughters were a permanent fixture in their home. They loved and doted on my girls with all the love they received from their parents. It's such a wonderful thing to pass down - being a grandparent. Our boy adores us both, his loving Pop Pop and Yia Yia ( I did say that Yia Yia is grandma in Greek) didn't I? The perfect part is that he has been blessed with three grandma's, so there is much love in this family. Him calling me Yia Yia is the icing on the cake for me, as my own Yia Yia adored me as well as all my siblings. Attention to our young is a special thing in our family. Never to just be seen and not heard. Every word we spoke or my Grandson speaks is gospel to us. We believe in giving our children the praise and encouragement that every parent needs to shown their children. It just comes so natural for us. And, the children always knew that what is said to Grandma and Grandpa was sacred. That's what my hubby and I are achieving with our own Grandson. Just sitting down with him reading a picture book; right now it's Elmo or Thomas the Train Engine, his snuggling next to us, leg to leg, his smile when we say something funny or a sound that tickles him, tickles us. The light in his eyes and his darling laugh when we laugh at something funny in the book makes us melt. He's now 26 months only, and when he finishes a book and says " Oh Yia Yia", I know what he is saying. He's saying that the book was wonderful, you are wonderful, and I feel wonderful. Can I ask for more?
