Nearly New Clothing Exchange update

Just in from the folks at the Nearly New Clothing Exchange: The sale is in a location that's different from the one in the spring - Pleasant Valley Shopping Center on Glenwood Avenue in North Raleigh next to the Kirklands. Receiving dates are noon to 8 p.m. Sept. 14 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 15. The public sale is from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 16 to Sept. 20.

Raleigh's parks department has a bunch of nature programs scheduled for this month at parks across the city. Most require pre-registration at least four days in advance. So be sure to plan ahead. 

N.C. art museum closing temporarily

The N.C. Museum of Art will close Sept. 7 for seven months so art handlers can move its collection to the new galleries being built next door. The 164-acre Museum Park will remain open and the museum will present Museum on the Move, a series of lectures, films, concerts, family programs and other offerings in the park and at venues across the Triangle.

Watermelon popsicles

Garner theater moves to cheap movies

The N&O's new business blog, .biz, reports that Garner Towne Square 10 is moving to second-run movies in the hopes of luring more customers. On Friday, the theater will stop showing the latest movies and switch to second-run movies for $2.
